"In contrast to the 1992, the 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon (once again unfined and unfiltered) is more precocious and flattering with seemingly lower acidity, a more velvety texture, wonderful richness, and an opulent, forward, cassis fruitiness that is easy to understand. Highly-extracted, rich and full, with no hard edges, unlike the more structured and tannic 1992, the 1993 will be drinkable upon release and age effortlessly for 20-25 years.
Fans of Newton should recognize that the winery is beginning to produce some Viognier from a 5-acre vineyard. The first crop yielded just one barrel, but the wine was striking in its richness, intensity, and faithful varietal character. While the 1994 will not be released commercially, hopefully the 1995 will be of similar merit. ."
